My G/grandfather George William Smith was a coastguard who died in Tresco, Scilly Isles in 1900 aged 38. I am trying to find out how he died. Are they any sites where I can find info of this kind.

I am wondering whether you already have the death certificate? That usually gives at least a basic outline which might be a starting point.

No I don't have a copy of George's death cert. I was just wondering if there was a web site where you could find info without having to buy one.
